In January 2010, a devastating earthquake changed the lives of those in Haiti. As a result, Fair Winds Trading now imports their handwoven baskets, African-gemstone jewelry, textile bags, and table linens, as well as  products from Tanzania, Cambodia, and Indonesia. 

Shalit has given job opportunities to Haitians to help rebuild their lives thru Heart of Haiti. From recycled oil drums to papier mache, artists in Haiti are capable of transforming unlikely materials into beautiful art. These pieces of art not only represent the drive to rebuild their community but also the rich culture which is found in Haiti. By purchasing one of these masterpieces, you will be directly helping Haitian artisans and their families. Artisans receive 22% of the retail price for each item.
