Pampering Yourself with a Small Budget

Every woman loves the feeling their favorite spa gives them. Just for that one day, it’s a chance to escape reality. Although rewarding, your career responsibilities and the demands of parenthood can be quite stressful on your mind and body. With the recent economic woes , we may not always see our favorite pampering service as justifiable. However, there are several ways you can enjoy some of your favorite services at half the cost and in the comfort of your own home.

 Facial

There are many at home facials used to refresh your skin. This fruit combination is sure to leave you feeling refreshed. You first combine 1/4 apple, 1/2 peach, and 1/2 tomato . Once these fruits are mashed together, add 1/4 cup of milk and one tablespoon of almond oil over moderate heat until the mixture reaches a creamy consistency. Allow the mixture to cool and then apply to your face for 30 minutes. Rinse the mask off your face and your skin will feel smooth and refreshed.

I am a fan of Montagne Jeunesse who develop individually packaged face and body care products. They provide a variety of face masks, so choose what is best for you. They are also extremely affordable, normally priced under $3.00 per each package.

At Home Spa Bath

It’s very easy to turn your own bathroom into the perfect spa experience. OK, it’s very easy to turn your own bathroom into the perfect spa experience that you can actually afford. Turn the lights down, add some candles, relaxing music, and your favorite bath scent and you will be well on your way to that spa experience. I enjoy Japanese Cherry Blossom and Black Amethyst from Bath & Body Works. They also constantly have great sales, so stock up!!

At Home Hair Care

OK, I admit it, I get a thrill from dying my own hair. (Please DO NOT repeat this to my hair stylist!) This is not for everyone and I do not suggest always doing your own hair. You don’t want to ruin you hair by dying it constantly at home. Let’s face it, hair stylists are our friend and they know what they are doing. This is only if you are on a tight budget or need to quickly cover up those gray hairs. I do not suggest this if you are a fan of highlights. If you typically only dye your hair one solid color then you can easily take care of those roots that may be showing or your graying hairs. Best of all, this can be done within one hour and it’s affordable. I recommend Loreal Feria or Garnier Nutrisse. You typically will not have to spend more than $10 on one box of color.

Manicure/Pedicure

Having a manicure/pedicure definitely should be done at your local spa/salon. It’s very easy to get a manicure/pedicure combination for $25 max. If you do not have time to pamper yourself in any other way, make time for your nails. Having your nails done is relaxing and beneficial . If your local spa/salon does not have a combination that you can afford, check with local beauty schools. Their students typically will offer services for a smaller price while they are still training.

Share your at home spa/salon service techniques with friends. These ideas are great for ladies night out parties or even parties for Sweet 16.

xoxo
