A Valentine’s Weekend with Molly Ringwald

I must admit I’m really awful at reading emails from all of the mailing lists I am on. There’s what seems like thousands and most go straight to the trash bin. When the email from Pinehurst Resort came thru a few weeks ago titled “Top 10 Tips for Buddy Trips”, I thought I’d take a look. After all, I had bought my husband and a friend a golf trip to Pinehurst for Christmas. Sure…there were tips for his upcoming trip but I can’t seem to name one. I couldn’t make it past this bit of news…… “Treat your Valentine to a romantic evening with a concert by acclaimed singer/actress Molly Ringwald. Enjoy overnight accommodations, dinner, concert, and breakfast plus a bottle of champagne delivered to your room for just $217″. (*side note…..this is per person)

Jazz Concert with Molly Ringwald

Wait WHAT?! Molly Ringwald is a jazz singer? Who knew?!?!?! I immediately forwarded the email to my husband and suggested we spend our Valentine’s weekend at Pinehurst. It’s not a holiday we really celebrate on a grand scale as he’s usually traveling. But…who could pass up the chance to not only attend a concert by Molly but also the opportunity to attend the “Meet the Artist” dessert reception afterward.

So, on the same weekend that many movie theaters will be showing Pretty in Pink in honor of the 30th Anniversary.

I will be sitting in the same room as Molly Ringwald.

Let’s be realistic… My darling husband could not show his love for me on any greater level than this. Ha!

About Pinehurst Resort

Pinehurst Resort is located just a couple of hours away from Charlotte, North Carolina. It was founded in 1895 and a couple of years later they opened their first golf course. It would quickly become a favorite among the PGA. Pinehurst has hosted both the men’s and women’s U.S. Open. The resort now has nine golf courses, three hotels, a spa and extensive sports and leisure facilities. (*Source: Wikipedia)

So, why will she be performing at Pinehurst? Since 1986, the Arts Council of Moore County has held a Heart ‘n’ Soul of Jazz event. Ms. Molly Ringwald is this year’s Entertainment.

I for one think I should start opening more emails. Who knows what else I could be missing!
