My visit to PodShavers and British Inspired Sunday Dinner Recipes

As you know from my previous post, I recently had the opportunity to visit my family in the UK. On the Sunday before we headed back to America, we visited a restaurant in Bishops Lydeard called PodShavers Barn. This is a popular place among the locals for a good Sunday Roast.

The staff was super friendly to our group of 18!  Never a moment that a smile left their faces.  While we waited on our food, the children ran around and played in the adorable court yard. Look at this photo that was snapped of me with my beautiful niece and handsome nephews.

For a starter I had the smoked salmon with horseradish mayonnaise followed by a Roast Chicken with vegetables as my main course. After filling our bellies with the traditional Sunday dishes, we made our way back to the court yard where the children chose something from the “Sweets from the Board”. We also were able to capture a family photo…..all laughs as usual!

You can also view photos of the restaurant on their website at http://www.podshavers.co.uk

Podshavers gave me an experience of family, togetherness and of course The Sunday Roast. This is a traditional British Sunday Meal. It includes the main course which is a roast with side dishes such as vegetables, potatoes,  yorkshire pudding and of course you can’t forget the gravy! My husband reminds me of that often.

I am slowly beginning to cook more meals that give my husband a taste of home. It was a proud moment for me when at Christmas he asked that I make the Yorkshire Pudding because it’s better than his. I’ll share the recipe in a later post.

Many of my friends have requested ideas to create their own British Inspired Meals. So, I started a collection on Foodie.com of recipes for your own British inspired Sunday Dinner as shown above.

Easter is around the corner….create a meal out of the recipes I shared and send me photos! I’d love to see what you come up with.
