My Visit to Bishops Lydeard (Part 3-Daisy Cottage Tea Rooms)

You certainly can’t visit a small village in England without having tea. One of the things I miss when my inlaws leave from visiting us is the amazing cup of tea my father in law makes while he’s here.

In Bishops Lydeard, there’s a place called Daisy Cottage Tea Rooms where they serve traditional loose-leaf tea, home-made cakes, lunches and it’s all in the most adorable vintage setting. One thing I love is fine china. Where some keep their china hidden away… never using it… or only using it for holidays….I love to use mine even for the smallest occasion. Daisy Cottage Tea Room serves everything on fine china with a vintage feel.

I ordered a lovely Peppermint Tea and of course had to have the traditional scones with clotted cream and jam. Now, I am not usually a fan of sweet treats BUT these scones paired with the tea were delightful. It’s a good thing you walk everywhere in this village because if I lived there I may very well gain weight!

Daisy Cottage Tea Rooms is located next to St Mary’s Church that I mentioned in my last post. The family owned business is run by a father and son- David and Ben Marker. The father, David, has 22 years experience as a chef. I love that everything is hand made and family owned and operated.

This is yet another place I can’t wait to revisit in Bishops Lydeard. OH and it’s obvious I am not the only one who is a fan because this tea room is award winning! They won the Somerset Life Food and Drink Award for Best Tea Room/Coffee Shop in Somerset. That’s pretty amazing for a business that just opened it’s doors in 2012.

Pinkie’s up ….naturally…..with my sister in law-JoAnne.
