Have You Heard of Mevagissey?

Have you heard of the tiny little village called Mevagissey? When our family planned for us to spend a few days in the county of Cornwall during our 17 day trip to the UK I really didn’t know what to expect. I had never heard of it and truly didn’t have a clue as to the beauty I would soon see. Once settled we ventured to the fishing port Mevagissey which my then 5 year old referred to as “Mother Goosey”. From that point forward I wanted to spend as much time there as I could. I am sure you can see why-check out this view.

Mevagissey has extremely narrow roads like nothing I had ever experienced.

          

It was obvious with the shops and restaurants that this was most definitely a tourist attraction which made me wonder why had I never heard of this gem? And I’m also amazed that I didn’t gain 20 pounds with all of the food we ate! I had my first Pastie which my husband said was a MUST TRY and couldn’t leave without having Fish and Chips. I mean…we WERE at a fishing port.

Aside from the food, shops, and narrow streets….the view was a dream. Mevagissey overlooks the English Channel.

On the second day we were there we took a nice long hike. I was a bit worried Harlow wouldn’t be able to make it-it was a few miles with the majority being uphill. To my surprise, with the help of pretending we were Dora the Explorer, she made it with few complaints and was quite proud of herself.

Here’s the “mountain” we climbed..doesn’t look like much from this photo but for a 5 year old it was alot.

And here are a few photos along the way. We even walked down to the beach-much different than our Carolina Coast!

The view from the top was one of the most surreal things I’ve ever experienced. It was a gorgeous day and the view was something out of a fairytale that brought me such peace.

God most definitely creates beauty.

I without a doubt would go back to Mevagissey given the opportunity.

It may be small but it certainly has alot to offer.
