18 Holes of Kindness Golf Tournament

For Immediate Release

October 7th, 2013- The Sandbox will host its 1st Annual Golf Tournament, 18 Holes of Kindness, on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Firethorne Country Club in Charlotte, NC.

The tournament will be a Captain’s Choice format, beginning with a shotgun at 10:00a.m. Entrance fees are $100 per person and include a 18 hole round at Firethorne, breakfast from Panera Bread, lunch from Chick-fil-A, dinner from The Plated Palette followed by an awards ceremony and refreshments. The awards ceremony will also include a raffle. The winning foursome will have the opportunity to play in a regional tournament.

Proceeds benefit The Sandbox who locks arms with the community and walks with families who have a child that has been diagnosed with cancer or other life altering illnesses. Their goal is to help patients and their families during the most tumultuous times of their lives so they can focus on the most important factors: Believing and Healing.

Tournament director Tim Old hopes this event will give the players a great opportunity to not only raise money for a great cause but to see first hand how they are making a difference.

Old says “There are few organizations that allow donors the opportunity to be closely involved with those they are helping. Not only will attendees enjoy a sport they love but they will have a chance to meet with some of the families that are greatly impacted by The Sandbox which is ultimately life changing”.

About The Sandbox

The Sandbox doesn’t get involved with the research of illnesses or treatments, but is uniquely prepared to buffer the negative domino effect that begins with a diagnosis. Parents often have to miss or quit work to meet the treatment needs of their child. Mounting bills and chaotic schedules bring stress that compounds an already difficult journey. Any semblance of order that a family had before their child is diagnosed is often lost. The Sandbox helps them to re-order some of their life so they can focus on taking care of their child.

When a family is in need of groceries, payment for an overdue bill, gas money for treatment travel, presents for Christmas or anything else that may come up, The Sandbox steps in to do what it can to make life easier.

When they personally deliver gas cards and groceries, pay utility bills, or provide needed household items they not only ease financial strain but combat the emotional discouragement that allows them to fight for life and hope.
