Travel Guide: Loutraki, Greece

Our first stop of our recent Corinthian Riviera tour in Greece was in Loutraki-a seaside resort about 50 miles from Athens. While Loutraki may be small in size it offers many activities, great food, and has one of the biggest Casinos in Europe.

Where To Sleep?

Club Hotel Casino Loutraki -Not only is this considered one of the largest casinos in Europe but it also has beautiful rooms, a spa, and a view like no other.

Where to Eat?

Have lunch overlooking the Iraion Lake at the Lido Restaurant. I think you really should be a seafood lover to appreciate this restaurant. The food was incredible and our table was full of calamari, octopus, anchovies, and shrimp.

Have dinner at the Paladar-a restaurant by the sea. The atmosphere is modern and hip and seemed to be a really cool hang out for locals and visitors alike. I enjoyed Cuttle Fish Ink Tagliatelle with fresh and smoked salmon, champagne sauce, and salmon trout caviar.

What to do?

Stop by Kalielaion Oil Press to pick up local made olive oil. I highly recommend asking for a tour. It’s a really cool process and the owner of Kalielaion is a lot of fun and full of incredible information about the benefits of olive oil. Did you know many people drink olive oil before a night out with alcohol as it helps prevent hangovers? Make sure to stock up on these amazing olive oils. These products are not only great for your own kitchen but make really awesome gifts!

Visit the Heraion Archaelogical Site which is home to the Heraion of Perachora. The legend is that Medea who murdered her children buried them at this site. Many of the structures here date back to between the 4th and 6th Century B.C.

Relax at Loutraki Thermal Spa

The thermal spa offers hydrotherapy, drinking therapy, sauna, steam baths, and silt therapy. The thermal waters of Loutraki , known since ancient times for it’s healing properties , are recommended for many issues such as arthritis, sciatica, skin disorders, and even gynecological disorders.
