New Zealand-A Dream Destination

I’ve recently been working on a list of places I’d like to travel to. I was curious as to what others were dreaming of in their spare time. So, I asked my facebook and twitter friends/fans “If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?”

I of course received some answers I expected …..Bora Bora, Fiji, Ireland, England, etc. But do you know the #1 answer? NEW ZEALAND. Maybe that doesn’t come as a surprise to some but for me it was. In fact, I at that moment realized how little I knew about New Zealand.

Actually, I didn’t know anything about New Zealand other than I had seen some pretty photos, it had something to do with Lord of the Rings (don’t judge me…I didn’t watch all of the movies), and while traveling for a client a few years ago I met someone who was from New Zealand. He was a golfer and a very talented musician. That’s my experience with New Zealand-shame on ME!

Considering so many have this as their #1 dream destination I felt I should do some research on some of the top things to do in New Zealand. Here are three that will be added to my personal “Must See” list when visiting NZ.

Milford Sound

Labeled the ‘8th Wonder of the World’ by Rudyard Kipling, Milford Sound is acclaimed as the most famous tourist spot in New Zealand. I can see why!!

I enjoy experiencing cultures first hand and would love to learn more about the  Māori . They came to New Zealand over 1,00 years ago and now make up 14% of the population.

Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers

Glaciers that descend into rainforests. I’ve read this is only one of two places in the world where you can see this. A rare experience! I certainly would love to photograph this area.

There are many more sights and sounds of New Zealand that I am fascinated by. It’s definitely being added to my Travel Bucket List. Now I see why so many consider this a “dream destination”!

Have you been to New Zealand? What’s your favorite part of this beautiful country?
