Queen City Pretty: Athena Stanfield

This week's Queen City Pretty is Athena Stanfield, Assignment Editor at WCNC in Charlotte. Athena was raised in Maryland and Raleigh. After attending UNCG, she landed a television job and has been in the business ever since!  She missed Raleigh so much after graduation that she took a job transfer and went back to her "home". Athena says " The Triangle has the best ACC teams and colleges in the country."  I'm a sports fan too so I love it when I hear that my Queen City Pretties have love for sports!

About five years ago, Athena felt it was time for another change and took a position here in the Queen City. Not only is she a career woman but she's also a mommy. Her teenage daughter and toddler son keep her quite busy. As if that's not enough, this Pretty is also very active in our community. She took time out of her busy schedule to share with us her definition of beauty and reminding us to take time for ourselves! Thank you Athena for being this week's Queen City Pretty. You are a beautiful lady that shows IT IS possible to be a great mother and have a great career!

What is your beauty product must have? MAC lip glass/lipstick

If I were to peek in your makeup bag, what would I find? All MAC products. I have the concealer, lip glass dazzleglass, studio fix mascara, powder blush, eye shadows, and bamboo paint primer. The mac concealer and bamboo paint covers the dark and oily spots which is allows foundation to go on smoothly. Most of my makeup are earth colors.

What spa/salon service can you not live without? I must have highlights and ends trimmed.  I can go through the winter without a pedicure ( which is a must in the summer every two weeks) but my hair must always have color and ends must be trimmed.
Who is your beauty icon? Patty LaBelle. She is a very beautiful and classy lady…LOVE HER!

What is your definition of Beauty?  Your most sincere individual characteristics being displayed.

Any last words? No matter how busy you are always make time for you!  As a mother, I know its easier said then done….but try!  Also if you don't wear makeup but want to try it, I suggest getting a makeup artist. My makeup artist at Nordstrom is awesome!  She helps me select colors based on my hair, skin tone, the season and my wardrobe.  And for that I'm thankful, I always get compliments.
