Queen City Pretty:Alexis Acosta

This week's Queen City Pretty is no stranger to the Charlotte Community. Everyone who knows Alexis Acosta describes her as beautiful (inside and out) , intelligent and full of personality. Alexis took time to share a little bit of her background , a few personal beauty tips and what true beauty means to her.

Alexis Acosta, a Charlottean since 2006, studied public relations and Spanish at Texas Tech University in West Texas, which is also home. An account executive position at skirt! Magazine brought her to Charlotte after completing a management internship with Morris Communications in Augusta, Georgia. At skirt!, Alexis found her passion for new business development and relationship building, which lead to her position as Marketing Director of Studiobanks.Studiobanks is a digital agency specializing in online marketing and web development for clients like Charlotte Center City Partners, Dilworth Billiards, Hendrick Motorsports, Bojangles’, Duke Energy, Country Music Association, Opera Carolina and Allen Tate Company.

As if that doesn't keep her busy enough, Alexis is also the  Young Affiliates Director of AAF Charlotte, Volunteer Coordinator of TEDx Charlotte, Circle de Luz member, Social Fresh volunteer and an occasional supernumerary for Opera Carolina.

She stays balanced by practicing yoga often and spending free time with an awesome circle of close family and friends. 99% of the time,Alexis has a smile on her face, which she attributed as her best accessory in her Style File feature in the Charlotte Observer last summer. She travels between Texas, Colorado, Mexico and Washington, D.C. to keep up with her big, yet fun-sized, Hispanic family, including four awesome nephews and two darling nieces.

What is your beauty product must have? I’d have to say MAC’s Select Moisturecover Concealer. It’s light, soft, natural-looking and great for the delicate skin under my eyes. I usually rock this stuff 365 days a year and always keep a back-up in stock.

If I were to peek in your makeup bag, what would I find? My sister, Suleika Bloom (Heels.com), is basically my go-to stylist and makeup artist. She introduced me to MAC products years ago, which take up the most space in my makeup bag, including their Studio Fix Powder Foundation, Select Moisturecover Concealer, Smolder Eye Kohl Liner, Lingering Eye Brows Pencil, Lipsticks, Fragrance and more. Other makeup finds in my goodie bag include Benefit Smokin' Eyes Kit, Maybelline Eyeshadow, Benefit Coralista Blush, Stila Sun Bronzing Powder, NARS Super Orgasm Blush, Shu Uemera Eyelash Curler, Maybelline Colossal Volum Express Mascara, Smashbox Luminizing Lotion, Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens, Benefit Erase Paste and Sephora makeup brushes.

What spa/salon service can you not live without and where do you go to get this service done? This may sound odd, but yoga is very much my spa/detox/restorative service. I bounce between Yoga One, Charlotte Yoga and Y2 Yoga to continuously practice both spiritual and physical balance in all aspects of my life.

Who is your beauty icon? Hands-down, Mother Teresa. She said, “Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.”

What is your definition of Beauty? Simple, genuine and real. The most beautiful people are those who radiate from within, with kind hearts and a loving spirit.

Any last words? Thank you for allowing me to share a small piece of me with your readers! Visit http://twitter.com/alexisacosta and http://studiobanks.com for more information about me and my work.
