Hello Family, Friends and Colleagues
As a mother, I can not imagine being in a position of not being able to provide a stable home for my daughter. Unfortunately, many in our community face this fear daily.
“Every day, school buses stop at The Center of Hope, to bring more than 100 children “home”. As Charlotte’s only 24/7 year-round emergency shelter, the Center of Hope— a 36,000 square-foot facility with 224 beds—routinely operates at capacity. In 2009 it admitted more than 5,600 people, including five women over the age of 85, and welcomed 27 newborns directly from the hospital.”
Recently it was discovered that many of the mothers at The Center of Hope do not have a photograph of their children. Sounds small compared to their bigger problems doesn’t it? But is it? Can you imagine not having a photo of your son or daughter? Personally, I couldn’t. I photograph my daughter daily as I don’t want to miss one moment. These women do not have that luxury.
What a beautiful wish that we can grant right before the holidays, Family Photos!
On October 30th, 2010 Robert W. Baird & Co. and I along with a couple of local photographers are working to grant this wish thru Portraits of Hope
Each mother will have a photograph made with her children and the photo will be printed off and framed that day.
I am seeking local hair stylists, makeup artists and other volunteers that are willing to assist in providing hair styling and make-up applications to the mothers and teen girls in these families. The forecast is approximately 40 families to be photographed, so we estimate 60 women/girls (combined) needing hair and makeup. I need a handful of volunteers that can commit from 10am-5pm. I know this is a full day and I understand this is the day before Halloween but this is for an amazing cause. Your help is greatly appreciated.
If you have any friends/family that are interested in helping us with this project, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you in advance.
